All aboard for the Amalfi Coast

Amongst the horde of tourists which frequent Southern Italy's prized stretch of coastline, Amalfi, Capri and Positano are three of the most picturesque, must see spots you could ever imagine.

Here are a few pics from our week long stay on the Amalfi Coast.

Enjoy.

Fast forward to FOTSUN

So chronologically speaking, I should be blogging about Italy's stunning Amalfi Coast. But the harsh reality is that I'm actually back on home soil down under and showing some mild symptoms of "post travel blues".

Luckily for us we had the opportunity to road trip up to the coast to Port Macquarie to my favourite of the Summer festivals - Festival Of The Sun. Which is exactly what the doctor ordered to cure my newly acquired illness!

Ladyhawke, Art Vs. Science, Dan Sultan, The Hungry Kids Of Hungry, Claude Hay and Colin Moore were just a couple of the cracking acts that played at this years festival.

Here are a few shots from in amongst the action at FOTSUN 2012.

Enjoy.

Cinque Terre

Cinque Terre, or Five Lands, if its translated (although far less impressive), is one of the most stunning stretches of coastline we visited on our trip, which is located in northern Italy.

Monterosso, Vernazza, Manarola, Corniglia, Riomaggiore are the five villages which make up the Cinque Terre region and are linked by hiking trails as well as trains and ferries for the less vigorous travellers.

Whether your a hardcore hiker, equipped with boots and hiking poles or the more casual hiker (myself) donning thongs and a stick, you will enjoy the Five Lands and the picturesque environment in which they occupy.

Here are some shots from the villages and trails of Cinque Terre.

Enjoy.

Venice and the Fondolas...oops I mean Gondolas...

Ahh Venice, one of the most romantic locations in the entire world. Once you're off the touristic trails, you can find those dreamy backstreets, surrounded by an interlocking maze of canals, that you have always dreamt about walking down with a loved one.

One hot tip to mothers, boyfriends and husbands...be wary of the uber sleazy gondola (A.K.A fondola) drivers. They WILL confess their undying love for your daughter, girlfriend or wife, without any hesitation whatsoever. They will also have them up the back of their Gondola to have a "paddle" while they try for a fondle, quicker than you can say "sleazy Italian dude'.

But with anything in life, you must always take the bad with the good. Venice is one magical destination, and one that I'd recommend to any romantic or the photography obsessed.

Enjoy.

Flocking to Florence

We managed to visit the city of Florence in Italy's north on a couple of different occasion during our travels of Italy. Battling it out on the streets with the throng of tourist, gypsies street merchants and their affiliated merch (including the ever so stylish, old school penis apparel see examples below), there is plenty to do and see in this grand old city.

If you are persistent and are willing to spend the days chewing pavement in the less crowded and touristy backstreets, you will find the beautiful, authentic and charming qualities which Florence has to offer.

Enjoy.

The Natural Amusement Park

No words that I can type can do Corsica the justice its deserves. The small island located off the bottom of France is the most naturally picturesque place which I've ever had the chance to visit. Our two week stay was nowhere near long enough.

Enjoy.
