Hibernation is OVER!!

Spring is a busy time in London.

For most city dwellers, it's because the weather is finally suitable for people to ditch the layers and leave the caves that they've been hibernating in for the last seven months.

In the Spring everyone comes out to enjoy some good old vitamin-D action. When I say everyone I mean exactly that. Birds, bees, flowers, squirrels, tourists, gypsies, street performers and even the locals!

And lets face it, who wouldn't want to be out and about? This is the time of year when London is in its absolute prime. All it needs is a nice warm sandy beach break within walking distance and I'd probably never want to leave.

The next few shots are from around the traps in the lovely city of London, highlighting the locals enjoying the warm weather.

A Cornish Weekend

When we were kindly invited down to Cornwall for the weekend by some good friends of ours, we had some TOUGH decisions to make. It was either stick-it-out in London for the Royal Wedding mayhem or hit the sun, salt and sand down at Hayle; a quiet beachside village in Cornwall. As you can imagine, it didn't take much debating.

Seeing as though I haven't had my salt injection for quite some time now, you would be safe to assume that I was pumped to hit the beach. Even though the surf wasn't pumping and the water was blisteringly cold, Hayle still managed to dish me up the seaside hit that I've been waiting 10 months for. The sea breeze, sunshine and the sand between my toes was enough to keep a smile on my dial all weekend.

Even though our visit was WAY too short, I still managed to get a few shots of Hayle and the road trip home - Happy Days!

Cambridge Vs. Oxford

It just one of those things - people either love Cambridge more than Oxford, or it's the other way round. It's kind of like asking a photographer about which DSLR they like the most. It's either a Cannon or a Nikon...end of conversation.

After visiting both uni's, I found it uber hard to decide which I was more partial towards. They both have their Harry Potter-esque charm, with their beautiful old buildings, perfectly manicured lawns, and plentiful numbers of rich kids strutting down the streets in their Ralph Polo attire.

Decisions decisions...

Hmmm... I think Cambridge may be the winner (Just don't tell Oxford!).

When you're walking down the cobblestone streets or cruising along the canals, Cambridge really feels alive. Even though the place is ancient, it's filled with such a youthful, energetic vibe.

Here are a few shots from my wanderings of Cambridge. You may also notice that there is a a slight shedding of clothing-layers in these shots and the flowers are in full bloom. Which means Spring finally sprung! Wooohooo!!

Getting sexy and snappy in Paris

So it turns out that everything people say about Paris is true. I can't imagine anyone leaving Paris, without the intention to return asap. 

What's even more amazing is that the filthy streets don't detract from Paris's beauty at all - it almost adds to it. 

I know that sounds cliche, but until you experience Paris for yourself, it's beyond description.

Here are a few schnapps from in and around the streets and sites of Paris. You may notice quite a few of these pics are focused around the Eiffel Tower. That is for two reasons:

1/ Our accommodation was a barge on the Seine River, directly under the tower. Swe-eat. 

2/ The Eiffel Tower so impressive (even more so in the flesh), that it's hard to restrain the snap-happy reflex.

Switzerland - Part 3 - Zurich

Zurich; the land of exotic sports cars, big ass clocks and cool cobblestone back-streets.

As you would probably guess, being the banking capital of the world, there is some serious moolah floating around this city. But despite all that, Zurich is one laid back locale, and an urban explorers dream come true.

Switzerland Part 2 - The Alps

The Swiss Alps (insert big sigh here).

One word. Epic. Just Epic.

Being the world's most famous mountain range does not dim the sheer beauty of this place or the people. Young and old, tourists and locals alike, flock to these supreme slopes with the intention of  carving them up! And thats exactly what the majority of them do.

I did a bit of carving (and some stacking) in the Mannlichen region of the alps a week ago. It really is such a sublime part of the world. The sheer size of these mountains is astonishing, especially when you compare them to our ant hill sized slopes back home in Oz.

In between the thrills and spills I managed to get a couple of shots. 

I also have a new respect for photographers that work at the snow. Shooting in such bright white conditions is tough!
